Rescue or Return: The Fate of the Jewish Archive

By Bruce Montgomery, International Journal of Cultural Property. May, 2013

The Iraqi Jewish Archive Preservation Report

Published by the Middle East Librarians Association Committee on Iraqi Libraries with the permission of The National Archives & Records Administration.  The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, October 2, 2003
“Rare, historic and modern books, documents and parchment scrolls pertaining to the Iraqi Jewish community were found in the flooded basement of the Iraqi Intelligence (Mukhabahrat) headquarters in Baghdad in early May 2003. Upon removal from the basement, the wet materials (known as the Iraqi Jewish Archive) were packed into sacks and transported to a nearby location where they were partially dried.”

The Jewish Refugees from Arab Countries: An Examination of Legal Rights – A Case Study of the Human Rights Violations of Iraqi Jews

By Carole Basri, Fordham International Law Journal. Volume 26, Issue 3. 2002
“Although the issues surrounding the Palestinian refugees are frequently addressed at the United Nations (”U.N.”), in the news media, and in legal journals, very little has been written about the Jews displaced from Arab lands. In light of the little known fact that approximately 50% of Israelis are Jews from Arab lands or their descendents, this Article will use Jews from Iraq as a case study in examining the history and rights of Jews from Arab countries, who were expelled or forced to seek refuge elsewhere.”
